Local Events & Festivals

Cedar Hill is a welcoming city with small-town charm and upscale taste. We foster an active community and encourage involvement in everything we do. There are entertaining opportunities around every corner, and the community hosts a number of annual festivals and special events throughout the year for all to enjoy.

Visitors stay and linger at our spring arts festival or catch our summer park concert series in June. And who wouldn't enjoy our annual fall festival, Country Day on the Hill, part of the Old Settlers' Reunion. There's plenty of family holiday fun to enjoy as well.

And while you're here be sure to subscribe to our calendar for Love Your City Theater's seasonal productions, it's perfect entertainment for the whole family. Head for the Hills in May when Rotary International hosts their bike rally and Subaru's Down and Dirty Obstacle Race is rollicking good, if not so clean, fun.

Events

  • Cedar Hill Arts Festival features artists of all art genres displaying and performing their craft inside local businesses, in Pioneer Park and on the streets of Historic Downtown Cedar Hill. The event is devoted to celebrating artists, and all art forms, by providing a unique venue for their art to be shared and enjoyed. Attendees participate in the creative process through interactive art installations, performances, and exhibits. Admission and nearby parking is free.
  • Cyclists from around the state and beyond head to Cedar Hill the 3rd Saturday of May each year for Rotary International's Head for the Hills Bike Rally. The annual event allows the Rotary Club of Cedar Hill to maintain youth programs and make direct donations to local charities, sponsor summer day camp scholarships, and respond to other immediate needs in the community. All the club's charitable efforts are funded by this one event and paid back to the community 10 months out of every year.
  • June brings summer concerts with Music in the Park at the Valley Ridge amphitheater the first four Fridays of the month. There's something for everyone with a different style of music featured each week. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and relax under the stars while enjoying the free concerts. Performances begin at 8 pm.
  • The music doesn't end there. Beginning in July and continuing through mid-August, Hillside Village hosts their Jam to Give concerts, Friday evenings at 7 pm on The Village Green. During each concert, they recognize a different Dallas-area non-profit organization with a cash donation, as well as hosting an in-kind donation drive. The concerts are free, but attendees are encouraged to bring an item requested by the featured non-profit.
  • The Cedar Hill Triathlon rolls into town the second weekend in June for back-to-back events with challenges for all ages and abilities. Saturday is all about kids with two age and distance triathlon categories beginning and ending at Crawford Park, plus a Splash and Dash. Sunday the adults take over with Olympic and Sprint triathlon competitions beginning at Cedar Hill State Park on Joe Pool Lake and ending in the Cedar Hill city center. Spectators that gather along the way get to enjoy the race as well as the awesome scenery and Cedar Hill's distinctive character.
  • For over 80 years residents, past and present, have gathered in Historic Downtown for the annual Old Settler's Reunion and Country Day on the Hill. The settlers gather around the square on Friday for Bingo, prizes, live musical entertainment, a light supper, and the crowning of the King and Queen of the Hill. Your $5 donation benefits local charities. The annual event fires up again Saturday with a parade, the FUMC 5K Mission 5K Fun Run, over 100 craft vendors, food, activities, contests, and live entertainment on 3 stages throughout the entire day.
